Jehane artist, Nina Pace, teams with LEGO on botanical blooms

Artist Nina Pace has turned LEGO’s botanical designs into intricate floral illustrations.

Nina has taken the artistic inspiration behind her greeting card collection with The Art File and turned it into an incredible botany in bricks collaboration with LEGO.

The artist who came up with the new Herbarium greeting card range from The Art File has illustrated The Botanical Almanac: A Field Guide To Brick-Built Blooms a coffee table book showcasing LEGO’s Botanical sets.

It’s the latest project for Nina coordinated by licensing agency Jehane and working with the Danish construction toy company and publisher Chronicle Books.

Described as an intricately illustrated compendium of flowers and plants with a LEGO twist, all the blooms are built of bricks, and the almanac combines floral facts, hand-drawn botanical illustrations and exclusive stories from the LEGO set designers, plus there’s a collectible flower print.

Like traditional botany illustrations, Nina’s versions of the LEGO flowers are presented as works of art and detailed dissections of real species.

Flowers are the favourite subject for the American artist, with Jehane owner Jehane Boden Spiers explaining: “Nina is awestruck by the sheer variety of petal shapes, the detailed patterning and vein layouts. When creating a new piece, she takes this inspiration from nature and lets the design build organically.”

The Botanical Almanac: A Field Guide To Brick-Built Blooms is being published on 28 March.
