Jackie The Musical heads out on tour

Nationwide tour based on DC Thomson brand will run through 2016.

A nationwide tour of Jackie The Musical will kick off in March 2016, choreographed by former Strictly Come Dancing judge Arlene Phillips.

Inspired by the popular DC Thomson classic magazine, the show will tell the story of a 50-something divorcée who seeks advice from the pages of her old Jackie annuals on how to get a boyfriend.

She then travels back in time and meets herself as a teenager.

The tour will begin in Dundee in March – with the two shows already sold out. It is being co-produced by Sally Wood, wife of Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood, while former Jackie editor, Nina Myskow, will be working with the production company. She will be interviewing fans of the magazine – such as Emma Thompson and Fiona Bruce – for an accompanying website.

The musical will star former The Two of Us star, Janet Dibley.

It originally had a successful two-week trial run in Dundee two years ago. The new tour will run until July, although it is understood further dates are set to be announced.
