ITV Studios introduces Dave Spud to licensing

On board as licensing agent for new property from The Illuminated Film Company.

ITV Studios Global Entertainment has added new property, The Rubbish World of Dave Spud, to its portfolio.

ITVS GE has been appointed as the licensing agency for the new comedy – which is coming to CITV in AW19 – by The Illuminated Film Company.

Aimed at children aged four to nine, the series revolves around Dave Spud – an archetypal underdog and fighter against the odds who is a magnet for disaster. It includes a range of comedy characters such as Gareth the starfish sidekick, cheerful cheapskate Dad and a one-eyed, flea-ridden dog called Fuzzypeg.

Trudi Hayward, svp global head of merchandise at ITVS GE, said: “The Rubbish World of Dave Spud has fantastic potential in the market and we are thrilled to have been chosen to represent this original and hilarious property.

“We will be focusing particularly on publishing from illustrated graphic fiction to non-fiction activity books and annuals. Dave’s surreal world lends itself perfectly to publishing and it is the ideal property to target early readers. We are excited to discuss opportunities with potential publishing partners in Bologna and at the London Book Fair.”
