GB eye’s Ben Woodman on the return of in-person trade shows and face to face meetings and the importance of technology in keeping relationships going.
The traditional start to the year is looking significantly different in 2021, with none of the usual trade shows – including London’s Toy Fair, Nuremberg and Spring Fair – going ahead in-person.
So, what are licensees across a range of categories doing to fill the gap?
LicensingSource.net catches up with a selection to find out their plans and why it’s key for the industry to make the most of Q1 despite the calendar changes.
Today: Ben Woodman, commercial director, GB eye
“We hope that the 2021 sees the return of trade shows in some capacity, while myself and the team are also really looking forward to the day when we can arrange face to face meetings again.
The last year has shown us how important technology can be in helping to maintain relationships and keeping the industry connected, so for the short-term it will be more of the same.
To kick off 2021 in a positive manner we’ll be holding virtual showcases for retailers – it’s so important to keep moving forward – and we’ll also be using the various meeting platforms to convey the great products and licences we have for this year.”
