Shaun the Sheep: The Movie also nominated in the Best Animated Feature category.
The 2016 Oscar nominees have been revealed, with Inside Out and Shaun the Sheep: The Movie set to battle it out in the Animated Feature category.
The two films have been shortlisted alongside Anomalisa, Boy and the World and When Marnie Was There in the category.
In addition, Inside Out has received a nomination in the Writing, Original Screenplay category.
While Star Wars: The Force Awakens missed out on a Best Picture nomination, the record breaking movie was shortlisted in a clutch of other categories.
The film is listed in the Film Editing, Music – Original Score, Sound Editing, Sounding Mixing and Visual Effects categories.
Meanwhile, Cinderella was named in the Costume Design category.
Hosted by comedian Chris Rock, the 88th Academy Awards will take place on Sunday February 28 in Hollywood.
