The funeral of toy industry veteran, Philip Harrison – who most recently headed up Mondo in the UK – is due to take place on Friday February 19.
Philip – who had a long and illustrious career in the toy and licensing business – sadly passed away on January 24. He ran Mondo in the UK for almost 30 years – making him a well known and much respected presence within the licensing business. Prior to Mondo, he also spent time at companies including Wembley Playcraft and Rainbow Toys.
Philip’s funeral will take place on Friday February 19 at 12.15pm GMT. The service will be available online, both live and for a period of 30 days following the funeral (to access use login: 77892 and password: cywrsyfc).
Licensing industry consultant, Jackie Ferguson – who knew Philip for some 35 years, including working with him on the Top Gear licence during her tenure at BBC Studios (then BBC Worldwide) – said that he stood out from the crowd and will be sorely missed.
“Philip stood out from the crowd – always beautifully turned out and looking extremely elegant and as I got to know him we used to sit down and have lovely chats about life,” she commented. “He had such a great sense of humour and I am always one who does not take life too seriously – work and play have to be fun and Philip was a good person to have on the team in every respect. Philip will be sorely missed – he was one of those very few people with absolute integrity. A handshake with Philip was a deal and he never went back on it.”
Lorenzo Richetta, international sales manager at Mondo, worked alongside Philip on a number of licences from 2007. “Philip introduced me to the UK licensing industry and it did not take me long to capture the respect and trust that preceeded him,” he commented. “Working alongside him gave me a headstart, but also a challenge to try and live up to his standard.”
