Plus Bravado, Somerbond, BBC Studios, The Pokémon Company International and Vital Life share their thoughts on being among the winners.

It’s coming up to a week since The Licensing Awards 2023 crowned its winners, and the joyful comments are continuing to pour in.

Ozgur Dokurlar, md at Somerbond – which picked up Best Licensed Adult Apparel or Accessories Range for its collaboration with Smiley Originals and ASOS, told LicensingSource.net: “We are immensely proud and humbled by this award. The teams across Somerbond/Smiley and Asos have worked effortlessly over the last 12 months to put their ideas and concepts together and it has really paid off in our winning this award.

“This means so much to us as a business and shows the industry recognises our hard work and dedication. We will continue to strive and push forward with newer and more exciting collections and hope to share these with the industry over the coming months.”

David Boyne, md at Bravado UK, was overjoyed to collect the award for Best Music or Celebrity Licensed Property for The Rolling Stones.

“I am absolutely delighted to be receiving this award,” he said. “It reflects the great work we all do every day at Bravado, working with the incredible Rolling Stones.”

The Best Preschool Licensed Property went to Bluey for the second year running. Andrew Carley, director global licensing at BBC Studios, told us: “A fantastic achievement for BBC Studios to win a second time running for Bluey. All of us who work in the industry recognise that success of any kind is brought about by a huge team effort backed by amazing content. Winning this award helps us all recognise that team effort.

“Finally, a big thank you to Max Publishing for organising the awards – as always a great event that reflects the amazing industry that licensing is.”

The Pokémon Company International was a double award winner on the night – picking up Best Gaming Licensed Property and Best Licensed Children’s Apparel or Accessories Range for its Clarks collection.

Jade Melhuish, licensing coordinator, commented: “It is a great honour to win two awards and to be recognised by our industry peers. A big thank you to our amazing licensees, retail partners and the teams at The Pokémon Company international.”

A new name to the licensing industry, Vital Life Nutraceuticals collected Best Licensed Food or Drink Range for its PAW Patrol juice drink line.

Alexandra Whalley, md Vital Life Nutraceuticals, said: “We are truly honoured to have received the Best Licensed Food and Drink Range 2023 award for our PAW Patrol juice drink range. This achievement is a testament to our values of retaining a UK based value supply chain, creating jobs, sustainability and creating exceptional drinks that resonate with our consumers; parents and children alike. We extend our sincere gratitude to our talented team and all our retailers who have contributed to this success.”
