Tulipop Studios – creator and owner of the Icelandic character-based Tulipop IP – is growing into new markets having secured a number of fresh deals.
Deals for preschool series, Tulipop Tales have been inked with TF1 in France and RAI in Italy through Tulipop’s Italian partner, The Animation Band.
The deals follow existing partner NRK acquiring new episodes for Norway.
This marks an important step for the production company which is known for its unique fantasy world and fairytales, which epitomise Iceland’s love for storytelling, creativity and freedom, and has a growing fan base of kids and parents around the world.
RAI in Italy has acquired all 52 episodes of Tulipop Tales from The Animation Band for its linear kids channel Rai Yoyo, as well as its online platform Rai Play, with the series set to launch in Italy before the end of the year. TF1 in France has acquired all 52 episodes of Tulipop Tales for its TFou Max streaming service while in Norway, NRK has committed to a further 26 episodes bringing the total to 52.
The new partners join Síminn in Iceland; YLE in Finland; MBC in the Middle-East; Canal+ in Poland; Tele-Québec in Canada; and Showmax South Africa in airing the series which is aimed at upper preschool audiences.
RÚV in Iceland, NRK in Norway, SVT in Sweden, DR in Denmark and Svenska YLE in Finland have also commissioned the production of three TV specials announced earlier this year, called Tulipop Seasons.
Tulipop’s consumer products division has also completed a new strategic deal with MBC Licensing in the Middle East, where Tulipop Tales launched on MBC 3 in August this year. Tulipop Studios has also signed a global music publishing deal with Peer Music, with the first two albums of Tulipop Tunes now available on all major music platforms.
Tulipop’s goal is to teach kids important life lessons, the value of friendship and the power of confidence through engaging and entertaining adventures set in fantastic Nordic landscapes.
“It’s fantastic to have RAI and TF1 in our slate of broadcast partners with NRK acquiring even more Tulipop content following a strong audience response to the show,” commented Helga Árnadóttir, ceo and producer at Tulipop Studios. “Our goal has been to take a curated territory by territory approach to television sales and build an international licensing programme for the brand so it’s great to see MBC Licensing come on board to handle consumer products in their territory. We are looking forward to continuing to bring Tulipop’s modern day fairytales filled with catchy music and diverse characters to even more kids across the globe.”
