Department store retailer to open six concessions of the toy chain.
Department store chain House of Fraser has revealed plans to open a number of Hamleys concessions.
The retailer confirmed it would open six concessions of the toy chain as part of its half year results this morning.
The move could see extra space for licensed toy product within the retailer’s department store estate.
Hamleys is owned by Chinese group, C.banner International. It was reported back in April that the group was considering buying a stake in House of Fraser, which is planning to launch in China later on this year.
House of Fraser reported flat sales for the six months to July 30, saying that trading had worsened since then amid low consumer confidence and disruption to its store revamp plan.
Interim sales for the period stood at £573.5 million, in line with a year earlier, while underlying like for like sales sneaked up 0.9%.
House of Fraser makes around 85% of its year’s profits during the festive quarter, and it said its was “cautiously optimistic” about the all important quarter this year.
