Company becomes global licensing agent for preschool property.
Hoho Rights will be hoping licensees flock to the latest property to join its stable, preschool animation Puffin Rock.
The company has become the global licensing agent for the brand, which is currently airing on RTE and Nick Junior in the UK. Narrated by comedy actor Chris O’Dowd, it focuses on a family of puffins who spend their days exploring the natural environment of their island home.
It is a co-production between Cartoon Saloon, Northern Irish children’s media company Dog Ears and global book publisher Penguin Random House, with the support of Northern Ireland Screen and the Irish Film Board.
Netflix airs the series internationally in a number of countries including the US and Japan. Broadcasters have also been secured in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Iceland and Australia for the first series, while a second series is currently in production for transmission in spring 2016.
Penguin Random House will also be publishing a range of books to complement the series in 2016.
“With its classic picture book style, this original series feels like a property that is immediately familiar,” said Helen Howells, joint MD at Hoho. “We look forward to introducing this charming property to retailers and licensees at BLE.”
