Hey Duggee continues to power on in Spain

BBC Studios’ Spanish partner Ypsilon secures Clan, plus Bizak as master toy partner for preschool brand.

BBC Studios has appointed Ypsilon Licensing as the licensing agent for hit preschool property Hey Duggee in Spain.

The deal comes as the series continues to perform well on Clan, the children’s TV channel from Spanish public broadcaster TVE, since Ypsilon Licensing’s TV and SVOD counterpart – Ypsilon Films – secured the platform at the end of last year.

Ypsilon Licensing – which is a joint venture between Ypsilon Films and Multitrade Group – has already secured Bizak as master toy partner in the region.

The deal marks the first time Hey Duggee merchandise will become available to consumers in the region. Bizak’s Hey Duggee toys and plush will be sourced from the UK master toy partner Golden Bear and product will launch in the Spanish market from autumn 2021.

“We are thrilled to see how quickly Hey Duggee has become a hit with the Spanish audience and feel confident that the launch of licensed toy and plush in the market will help propel the popularity of show to the next level,” said Julie Kekwick, senior licensing manager at BBC Studios.

Isaac Anidjar, sales manager and partner at Ypsilon and Multitrade Group, added: “We are excited with the success of Hey Duggee in Spain. We are working closely with all parties involved to build the brand strategy and we are confident in the potential of such an iconic property on a long-term basis.”

Agreements secured with Ypislon and Bizak also mark further growth in Western Europe for Hey Duggee. Last year, France TV Distribution was signed as the French licensing agent for Hey Duggee and product now available in the region includes toys from master toy Lansay; plush toys, furniture and melamine courtesy of licensee Jemini; puzzles and early learning games from Ravensburger; magazines by Milan; and books by Hachette.
