Sanrio character is official ambassador for Stockholm-based event.
Hello Kitty has acted as the official ambassador for the Cherry Blossom Festival Day in Stockholm, Sweden for the third time.
Organised by the Japanese Association in collaboration with the City of Stockholm, this year’s event was particularly significant as 2018 is the 150 year anniversary of diplomatic relations between Sweden and Japan.
Although the cherry blossoms had not appeared yet due to the cold Spring, more visitors participated in the event than ever before.
Hello Kitty opened the Cherry Blossom Festival Day event, was interviewed by DJ Simon and participated in the Yosakoi Dance, before meeting and having photographs with children and families.
Visitors to Stockholm’s Kungsträdgården enjoyed an afternoon of music, food and dance. The Bunraku puppet theatre from Chiryu-city (a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site), Taisho-koto Japanese traditional music and Geiko Maid dance, were among the performers and attractions.
Cultural workshops showcased both modern and traditional Japanese culture and martial arts, while popular Japanese food and drinks were on sale.
