Havaianas falls into step with Fortnite

The Brazilian flipflop brand has teamed up with the online battle royale game for both physical footwear and digital in-game content.

Brazilian flipflop brand, Havaianas has joined forces with Fortnite for a new ‘phygital’ collaboration – spawning both physical footwear and digital in-game content.

The new Havaianas vs Fortnite collection includes three flipflop styles, with prints referencing recognisable elements from the game such as the Unicorn Llama Pickaxe and the Battle Bus, reported Fashion Network.

In addition, Havaianas has also created its own flipflop-shaped map – the Havaianas Summer Island – in the online battle royale game, where gamers will be able to play hide and seek in a new environment.

The island features a Brazilian-inspired beach and a more built up urban zone which merges into an Asian-influenced space. This then leads up to a forest and a European-style castle.

Havaianas has previously worked with gaming brands, creating flipflops featuring Minecraft, Pokémon and Super Mario.

The combination of physical products and in-game content has been growing in the fashion space. Louis Vuitton designed skins for League of Legends in 2019, while Nintendo’s Animal Crossing: New Horizons has included custom designs from the likes of Valentino, Marc Jacobs and Anna Sui since it launched in 2020.
