Harry Potter, Fortnite most sought after Christmas gifts online

Analysis from gift and gadget retailer Hawkin’s Bazaar highlights key licences.

Gifts and gadgets retailer Hawkin’s Bazaar has revealed the gifts that consumers are searching for most online – with Harry Potter coming out on top.

The retailer analysed search queries on its website – Hawkin.com – to find the product categories Brits are searching for most this Christmas.

Harry Potter came out on top, with Fortnite in third position. Drones (2), retro consoles (4) and stocking fillers (5) completed the top five.

“While the popularity of Fortnite shows no signs of stopping, kids and parents alike are still coming back to their old favourites,” said David Mordecai, ceo of Hawkin’s Bazaar. “Even 21 years later, Harry Potter is still topping Christmas lists. It’s certainly set to be another magical Christmas for Potter fans of all ages.”

Analysing UK-wide Google Search trends, Hawkin’s Bazaar also found the UK’s most festive cities – according to the proportion of total Google searches that were specifically about Christmas and Christmas shopping.

Swindon came out on top as the UK’s most Christmassy city, closely followed by Hull, Derby, Liverpool and Cardiff.
