Star Wars-themed events will take place across the globe during October.
The popular Star Wars Reads campaign is returning for a fifth year, with Disney Publishing and Lucasfilm confirming it will take place this October.
The month-long grassroots campaign will include regional and international storytelling events for Star Wars fans of all ages, building up to the hotly anticipated cinema release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story on December 16 2016.
Publishers participating in this year’s event include Disney Publishing Worldwide, DK Books, Scholastic, Egmont, Abrams and Del Rey among others.
Fans will be encouraged to become ‘reading jedi’ by taking part in Star Wars-themed games and activities, various author-related signings and meet and greets in book stores, libraries and schools.
Jeanne Mosure, senior vice president and group publisher at Disney Publishing Worldwide, said: “Over the past five years, the Star Wars Reads campaign has organically grown into an annual event that celebrates reading through the new and familiar stories for families and fans of all ages.
“We’re thrilled to continue the momentum in 2016 and invite parents to encourage reading while introducing kids to Star Wars through printed books, graphic novels and digital stories.”
