GB eye celebrates success with drinkware range

Licensee finished 2016 with over one million units sold across collection.

GB eye is celebrating success with its drinkware collection – with 2016 ending with over one million units sold thanks to a number of key licences.

The licensee only entered the sector in 2014, following on from customers’ requests for GB eye designs on mugs.

Investment into both machinery and display units paved the way for further innovation and formats, with the range now spanning 13 different formats with over 2,000 individual skus.

Key licensees in 2016 included Harry Potter, DC Comics, The Walking Dead, the BBC, Fall Out, PlayStation and Pokémon.

Emily Aldridge, GB eye’s licensing manager, said: “We have secured some brilliant licences across our drinkware range and we’re so grateful to the licensors that believed in our motivation and commitment to the category.

“The phenomenal sales that we’ve seen are a testament to these partnerships coupled with the creativity of our design team.

“We’re so excited to keep on expanding and adding more great licenses and formats to our portfolio.”

Joanne Copley-Dunn, GB eye’s commercial director, added: “We are also making huge strides in securing even more key retail space.

“Drinkware has been instrumental in opening doors with some great new retailers along with increasing our presence in our UK chains.

“Our business in Europe has seen its best year yet thanks to these new products which, matched with our must-have licences, are flying out the door.”
