Garfield grows apparel presence in Australia

Peter Alexander stores launch new range as part of Famous Cats & Dogs theme.

A new Garfield sleep and loungewear collection has hit Peter Alexander stores across Australia and New Zealand, as part of its Famous Cats & Dogs in-store theme.

The range – including pieces for men, women and children – features lounge pants and tees, trunks, pyjama sets and baby onesies.

Garfield is also featured on all Peter Alexander window store displays throughout the campaign.

It is featured on the retailer’s social media channels, as well as through Garfield’s Facebook page, which has over 16.9 million fans.

Peter Alexander commented: “It wouldn’t be a famous cats & dogs collection without Garfield.

“We both have so much in common – I hate Mondays, Garfield hates Mondays, I love lasagna and Garfield loves lasagna. So I just had to include Garfield in my new sleepwear collection.”

Mark Paul, md of Global Licensing, Garfield’s licensing agency in Australia and New Zealand, added: “We are very fortunate to work with such an outstanding retail partner as Peter Alexander to bring this exciting new clothing range to market.

“Garfield is an example of a classic brand with wide appeal across all ages, and he has significant untapped merchandising potential. Jim Davis and Paws Inc. always encourage licensees to innovate in design and execution, while never forgetting that Garfield is all about having fun and being irreverent.

“We believe Peter Alexander has nailed it.”
