Frida Kahlo licensing grows in fashion space

Art Ask Agency strikes deal with fashion retailer Mango for branded clothing.

The Frida Kahlo licensing programme is making waves in the fashion space, with a new deal with Mango marking the start of a number of launches in the category this year.

Art Ask Agency has secured a deal with the fashion retailer – which boasts 2,200 stores in 109 countries – for Frida Kahlo licensed apparel.

In addition to Mango, more fashion deals are in the pipeline for 2018, as well as product launches in a number of other categories.

For example, last month saw a fashion collaboration with French lingerie brand Princesse Tam-Tam.

The V&A is also readying the Frida Kahlo – Making Her Self Up exhibition, which is due to open in June and runs until November. The exhibition presents a collection of personal artefacts and clothing belonging to the iconic Mexican artist.

Locked away for 50 years after her death, the collection has never before been exhibited outside Mexico.

Maria Strid from Art Ask Agency commented: “Visibility is high for Frida Kahlo and we are very pleased to be able to give consumers the opportunity to have a little piece of Frida for themselves.”
