Fox teams with Zavvi for Buffy initiative

Partnership with online entertainment retailer marks 20 years of cult TV classic.

Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products has teamed up with online entertainment retailer Zavvi, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the TV cult classic Buffy the Vampire Slayer, with a year-round programme in the UK throughout 2017.

The strategic partnership will see FCP and Zavvi create a fan-focused Buffy collection including everything from hoodies and sweats, to tees, loungewear, exclusive prints and linen tote bags.

In addition, Zavvi will launch a limited edition ZBOX specifically made for ‘Slayers’. The retro collection is inspired by the cult teen heroine and Sunnydale High with classic quotes such as ‘If the apocalypse comes beep me’.

Zavvi and FCP will also be speaking to fans directly through a dedicated online and social media campaign, as well as a homepage take over.

The collaboration is part of 20th Century Fox Consumer Products’ 20th anniversary celebration of the series, with all-new merchandise and product launches.

It began back in March, with fans around the world marking the anniversary with the fast-trending hashtag #BuffySlays20.

Claire West, brand licensing manager at The Hut Group, of which Zavvi is part, commented: “The Hut Group is excited to be entering a partnership with Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

“Buffy is a cult television show that is as popular now as it was in the 90s, and we are thrilled to be working on a developing a range that is relevant to both a long serving Buffy fan and a new viewer.”

Sandra Vauthier-Cellier, svp at FCP EMEA, added: “We are proud to be working with The Hut Group on such a great television programme like Buffy, and see this as the start of a long-term strategic partnership on our pop culture brands.”
