Nationwide blood drive with American Red Cross to take place on March 10 anniversary.
Fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer are getting ready to sink their teeth into the return of Buffy Slay Day in the US.
20th Century Fox Consumer Products will host a nationwide blood drive with the American Red Cross on March 10, the anniversary of the series’ 1999 premiere.
The Torrance Red Cross Blood Donation Center will serve as the Buffy Slay Day flagship site as it is just minutes from Torrance High School, the location for the fictional Sunnydale High featured in Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Other participating Red Cross blood drives include Atlanta, Charlotte, Nashville and New York (March 11), will also support the annual Buffy Slay Day celebration with a variety of exclusive giveaways for blood and platelet donors.
In addition, a range of licensees are also marking the Buffy Slay Day celebration. These include Funko, BOOM! Studios, Little Brown, Simon & Schuster, Upper Deck and HarperCollins among others.
Shop.Fox.com has also unveiled a new range of merchandise to mark the 20th anniversary of Sunnydale High School’s Class of 1999 including apparel, drinkware and notebooks.
“Buffy Slay Day is more than just a chance to commemorate the incredible pop culture phenomenon Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” said Eva Steortz, svp global brand at 20th Century Fox Consumer Products. “It’s an annual opportunity for fans to demonstrate their own courage, pride, power and inner slayer. A day for all of us to fearlessly show the world we’re here to slay.
“Based on the overwhelming impact this content has had on fans, we are confident this celebration of empowerment is here to stay.”
