Forbidden Planet rolls out American Gods merch

Pop culture retailer partners with FremantleMedia to launch apparel and giftware.

Forbidden Planet has partnered with FremantleMedia to launch a new wave of apparel and giftware inspired by the American Gods TV series.

The new range – arriving by the end of June – will include official tees, fashion accessories and giftware and will be exclusive to the pop culture retailer.

American Gods is based on the Neil Gaiman novel of the same name and airs on Amazon Prime Video internationally.

In the UK, it is currently the most watched show on the streaming service.

Forbidden Planet has a prior relationship with Neil, with his seminal novel debuting at an in-store book signing in 2001. Since then, Forbidden Planet has continued to be one of the leading retailers of American Gods merchandise based on the novel in the UK, including recent comic book and colouring book releases.

Omar Khan, Forbidden Planet’s licensing and special projects manager, said: “We’re huge Neil Gaiman fans at Forbidden Planet and are ecstatic to see one of his most exciting creations adapted for television.

“I’m thrilled to release our fashion-forward, fan-focused range of products – all of which are perfect for American Gods devotees.”

Andrea Brent, FremantleMedia’s svp licensing and franchise management, added: “Forbidden Planet is a perfect partner to support FremantleMedia’s newest TV series, American Gods.

“Their name is synonymous with the fan-based collector community and the products they are offering will allow viewers great new ways to enjoy the TV series.”
