Eddie Redmayne signs for Aardman’s Early Man

Oscar winning actor to voice Dug in new prehistoric comedy adventure due in 2018.

Aardman and StudioCanal have revealed the first cast member for Nick Park’s new film Early Man – with Eddie Redmayne coming on board.

The Oscar winning actor will voice ‘plucky caveman’ Dug in what will be Nick Park’s first feature film since Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit.

Nick Park commented: “Not only is Eddie a joy to work with, his versatility and boundless energy have really helped to bring my new character to life.

“He embodies the cheeky charm, fun and plucky wit of Dug and I’m sure he’ll get along brilliantly with Dug’s sidekick Hognob.”

Early Man continues the production partnership between Aardman and StudioCanal, with the latter distributing the film in its own territories – the UK, France, Germany, Australia and New Zealand, selling worldwide.

The British Film Institute is also a partner on the film.

Early Man is scheduled for release in the UK on January 26, 2018.
