New collection marks brand’s 60th anniversary and honours 50 years since Sabbath’s debut records.
Dr. Martens is marking its 60th anniversary by paying tribute to iconic musicians, artists and creatives who hold an important place in history.
As the ‘godfathers of heavy metal’, Black Sabbath has close ties with Dr.Martens and, in the first collaboration, the brand is spotlighting iconic artwork from the band’s first two albums – Black Sabbath and Paranoid.
And in Dr. Martens’ 60th year, Black Sabbath is also marking 50 years since the release of its debut records – which landed seven months apart in 1970, setting the tone for a new era of music.
The 1460 Sabbath boot is splashed with the iconic graphic of the band’s eponymous debut and kitted out with purple popped eyelets, flat braided laces and core Docs markings. Through the laces is a ‘Henry’ badge – the flying devil/angel that’s become synonymous with Sabbath over the years.
Meanwhile, the 1461 Sabbath shoe is built with the same eyelets, ‘Henry’ motif and heel loop, but pays tribute to the second album Paranoid. The album artwork is digitally printed on the ankle, and the 3-eye shoe is finished with embossed Black Sabbath lettering on the vamp.
The collaboration was brought together by Bravado and launches from today (October 1).
