Disney kicks off Ultimate Princess Celebration

Year-long event includes a musical special, a new storybook collection, consumer products and a collaboration with Starlight Children’s Foundation.

The Walt Disney Company has launched the Ultimate Princess Celebration, a year-long event spotlighting the ‘courage and kindness’ that the Disney characters inspire in fans around the world.

A raft of music, experiences, products and a collaboration with a children’s charity will be running throughout the year, beginning with the recording of a new original song by Grammy award winner, Brandy.

Called Starting Now, the song will act as the anthem of the celebration and will be featured in Disney Princess Remixed – An Ultimate Princess Celebration, which is due to air on Disney Channel in the US in August (before going onto Disney+ for fans around the world to enjoy).

In addition to the single and the TV special, Disney will be marking the Ultimate Princess Celebration with a number of events, experiences and unique products.

Disney Publishing Worldwide is releasing Tales of Courage and Kindness, a new short story collection that is looking to inspire children to create a kinder world. The 14 original stories include new illustrations and demonstrate how the Disney Princesses, as well as Queens Anna and Elsa, are kind and courageous in their own way.

In celebration of the launch, a host of Disney Princess voice talent will be reading the stories from the collection including those inspired by Mulan, Tiana and Moana.

A nationwide US tour – Disney Princess – The Concert – will kick off on 1 November, while Disney is also teaming with Starlight Children’s Foundation to bring Disney Princess and Frozen-themed hospital gowns and deliveries of toys, books and games to children during their hospital stay.

Disney Consumer Products, Games and Publishing, meanwhile, will help bring the Ultimate Princess Celebration to life through a broad range of new product collaborations for fans of all ages across toys, fashion and accessories, beauty, home décor, books, games and more.

In keeping with the theme of the programme, Disney collaborated with brands such as Lokai and Love Your Melon, which emphasise kindness through charitable giving.

New products tied to the Ultimate Princess Celebration will launch throughout the year including toys and collectables from Hasbro, Jakks Pacific, The LEGO Group, Just Play, Funko and Huffy, plus fashion, beauty, and accessories from adidas, Coach, Chaser Brand, Hanna Andersson, Enchanted Disney Fine Jewelry, Besame Cosmetics, POPSUGAR and others.
