Designers line up to collaborate with Doctor Who

BBC Studios launches apparel and jewellery with Fyodor Golan and Alex Monroe.

BBC Studios is continuing to mark the introduction of the Thirteenth Doctor, launching two partnerships with British designers, Fyodor Golan and Alex Monroe.

A five-piece streetwear collection from Fyodor Golan – exclusive to Selfridges in London – will launch on October 16, ranging in price from £110 to £195. The clothing collection is inspired by classic Doctor Who’s retro artwork, with one piece even including a Dalek in a holographic, hand-laid vinyl.

Meanwhile, jewellery designer Alex Monroe helped to bring the new team’s vision of the Thirteenth Doctor’s style to life in the ear cuff the Doctor wears, the design of which has inspired a capsule collection.

The Galaxy Single Ear Cuff, a replica of the costume piece (£135), is now available alongside the Companion Single Stud Earring (£75) and the Galaxy In-Line Necklace (£150).

“Fyodor and myself are big Doctor Who fans and were instantly drawn to the fantastical imagery and futuristic possibilities of the brand,” said Golan Frydman, co-creative director of Fyodor Golan. “We create genderless and borderless designs and love the direction of the new Doctor and the positive impact this will make.”

Alex Monroe, eponymous creative director and owner, added: “I love Doctor Who and watched it religiously when I was a kid and now my kids absolutely love it. I have three girls, each one brought up with a different Doctor. To create a piece for the show and such a strong character is incredibly rewarding and exciting.”

Meanwhile, BBC Studios’ Rikesh Desai is excited to be partnering with both designers. “They have each produced stunning collections, creating a new offering for audiences and consumers alike,” he commented.
