Danilo celebrates Gogglebox card success

Three new designs commissioned and ready to hit shelves in time for Christmas.

Initial sales of the official Gogglebox greetings card range are proving very strong indeed, Danilo has told The Source – mirroring the success of the show.

The reality TV series returned to TV screens on September 11, with the episode aired on October 16 enjoying the biggest ever overnight audience of more than four million (18.3% share).

Consolidated figures typically top six million viewers, with the launch episode this season watched by a quarter of the viewing public.

The greetings card line is proving so popular that three new Christmas card designs have been commissioned for retailers.

The vibrant designs of the cards – accompanied by funny captions from a selection of the show’s couples – have proven to be a hit with Gogglebox fans. In particular, cards featuring ‘posh couple’ Steph and Dom and duo Chris and Stephen have been the most popular designs.

“We are delighted to see our Gogglebox card range performing so well,” said Trevor Jones, licensing director at Danilo. “The reality TV show has gone from strength to strength and we feel confident the greeting cards and the 2016 calendar will continue to mirror this success.”

Vickie O’Malley of Rockpool Licensing, the agency which manages the Gogglebox consumer products programme, added: “Trevor, Martin and the team at Danilo have done an amazing job with their Gogglebox card and calendar range. We are thrilled at the designs, and such strong launch sales tell us that fans must be, too.”
