Coolabi’s Poppy Cat moves into Japan

Landmark has been appointed licensing agent in the territory for the publishing-based brand.

Coolabi is expanding the Poppy Cat brand into Japan, appointing Landmark as its licensing agent.

Poppy Cat – based on the book series by Lara Jones – launched on TV in the UK in 2011, and since then has been licensed to some 140 territories.

Landmark will look to target preschoolers and their families, as well as the female teen audience, where it believes there is significant potential for the brand.

Landmark has over 25 years of experience representing international companies including Disney and Pixar.

The company’s Yuji Masuda commented: “Landmark is pleased to announce that we now represent this superb British property in Japan. Poppy Cat is such a high quality and attractive property.

“It inspires children’s imagination, has well developed and varied characters and rich content and we are sure that it will be a big success in Japan. We are also impressed with Coolabi and are very much looking forward to working together to promote the property in Japan.”

Jeremy Banks, chief executive for Coolabi Group, added: “We are thrilled to have appointed such an experienced, strategic company as Landmark to be our inaugural Japanese licensing agent.

“This is a significant step in broadening our international consumer products activities and we are very excited to see Poppy Cat in Japan.”
