Centum Books bolsters European business

French publishing deal secured with Xilam Animation for two key shows.

Centum Books has seen significant growth for its French office over the last 18 months and it has further bolstered this with a new deal with Xilam Animation.

The company has secured a French publishing deal for Oggy & the Cockroaches and Zig & Sharko.

It will begin in spring 2018 with an extensive range of story books and novels.

Centum Books, which is also the master publisher of Universal’s Minions and Despicable Me franchises in Europe, will develop the two properties into all book formats, including, but not limited to, activity books, colouring books, sticker books, annuals, joke books, hardbacks and paperbacks, character guides and handbooks.

Fiona Macmillan, md at Centum Books, commented: “We are all very excited and looking forward to working with Marie-Laure and her colleagues at Xilam on both of their well-loved brands; Oggy and Zig & Sharko.

“Our French office has seen significant growth in the last 18 months and securing these two brands within our portfolio takes the company into the next part of our journey.”

Marie-Laure Marchand, svp global consumer product and media distribution Asia-Pacific, USA and UK, at Xilam, added: “We are delighted to be working with such an innovative and creative company as Centum Books – this partnership is a perfect fit for Xilam. We know that with their expertise the Oggy and Zig & Sharko publishing ranges will launch successfully in France.

“Our fans are always eager to discover new products, so this marks another step in our growing and successful licensing programme.”
