A host of UK-based licensees have received nominations at this year’s LIMA International Licensing Awards.

A total of 132 nominees from 16 countries have been named in the shortlist, with LIMA saying that a record 42% of nominees originate from outside the US. This marks a 68% increase from last year.

Winners will be announced on Tuesday May 22, during Licensing Expo in Las Vegas.

UK and Europe-based companies and brands are well represented in the listing.

Notably, UK licensees GB eye (Rick and Morty drinkware range), Half Moon Bay (Warhammer 40,000 giftware range) and Pyramid International (Doctor Who TARDIS doormat) have all been nominated in the Home Décor (domestics, furniture, giftware, textiles) category.

Centum Books has been named in the Publishing/Social Expression/Back to School category for its JoJo Siwa publishing range, while Bon Bon Buddies is shortlisted for Food/Beverage for its Disney Characters Fruitickles fruit snack.

Meanwhile, Born Licensing has gained a nod in Licensed Promotion for its successful Masters of the Universe meets Dirty Dancing campaign for Moneysupermarket.com, alongside Silvergate Media and its Octonauts Swimming Programme.

In addition, Global Merchandising Services and Cameron’s Brewery have been nominated for Motörhead’s Röad Crew beer in Food/Beverage.

Stockholm-based Happy Socks is also among the nominees for Apparel/Footwear/Accessories for its The Beatles collection.

Other UK names in the shortlist include V&A (Art & Design); Paddington (Character/Toy Brand); Selfies from Howard Robinson; emoji (Digital); Parental Advisory (Corporate Brand); PAW Patrol, Peppa Pig, PJ Masks (all Film/TV/Entertainment – Animated); and England Rugby (Sports).

Charles Riotto, LIMA president, commented: “This is a banner year for the LIMA Licensing Awards programme. We received a record 700 submissions, which truly reflects the broad scope of licensing from around the world.

“The prestige – not to mention the sense of competition – is greater than ever and we are excited to see it all play out at the awards ceremony at Licensing Expo.”
