British Museum adds Portfolio to licensing drive

Company to create new line of greeting cards featuring museum’s art and artefacts.

The British Museum and TSBA Group are continuing to grow its licensing programme, signing up Portfolio to produce a range of greeting cards featuring designs drawn from the museum’s collection of art and artefacts.

The line will draw inspiration from a wide selection of works from a variety of countries – from ancient to contemporary, fine art to sculpture.

Launching in February 2017, the initial range will be made up of 24 designs.

David Corner, director of Portfolio, said: “With its access to some of the most beautiful, historic and striking art and artefacts anywhere in the world, the British Museum collections are a perfect source of memorable images.

“We are thrilled to be working with such a prestigious name – and a famous central London neighbour – on this unique range of greeting cards.”

Craig Bendle, manager of merchandise licensing at the British Museum, added: “This superb selection from a respected name in the field brings a world of history from across the centuries to a worldwide audience. Portfolio has done a wonderful job of bringing some of the museum’s best-loved objects to a superb range of greeting cards.”

Ian Mallalue, ceo of TSBA Group, continued: “Greeting cards were always one of the key categories for the British Museum licensing programme, but we needed to find a partner able to do justice to the museum’s aims.

“Portfolio is an ideal partner and we are delighted both with its selection of images and with the quality of its designs.”
