A record 30,000 tickets already sold for A History of Magic exhibition.
The British Library’s eagerly anticipated Harry Potter exhibition opens its doors on Friday (October 20), with a record 30,000 tickets already sold.
Harry Potter: A History of Magic – held in partnership with Bloomsbury – runs until Wednesday February 28, 2018, and is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the publication of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
On show will be rare books, manuscripts and magical objects from the British Library’s collection, capturing the traditions of folklore and magic which are at the heart of the Harry Potter stories.
In addition, there will be original drafts and drawings by J.K. Rowling and illustrator Jim Kay, both on display for the first time.
Dragons’ bones, a mermaid, a step by step illustration (on a six-metre long scroll) of how to create a philosopher’s stone, a black crystal ball owned by a 20th century witch known as Smelly Nelly and a broomstick on which another west country witch rode are also all on display.
