All eyes on merchandise growth after new album hits number one.
The licensing and merchandise programme for Australian band 5 Seconds of Summer is set to step up a gear, after the four-piece stormed to the top of the official album charts in a number of territories.
As well as reaching number one in the UK, the US and Australia, the band’s second album – Sounds Good Feels Good – debuted at number one in five countries around the world.
Now Bravado – which is managing the licensing programme – in partnership with 5SOS’ management, Modest Management, is exploring a number of avenues to boost the existing licensing programme.
“The album going to number one in key territories is further evidence of the huge popularity of the band, which we have also seen on merchandise,” Alex Mitchell, licensing and partnership manager at Bravado, told The Source.
“The retail and licensing programme has got underway with great success where key partners and retailers are already getting some great results.
“The album was released in late October, which is perfect for retail as the build up for Christmas truly starts now and allows us to fully maximise the hype that comes with the album.
“The calendar in particular will be a top seller this Christmas, alongside the other great product in the market.”
The chart success tops off a stellar year for 5SOS, who spent the summer performing to sold out headline shows across the UK, Europe, US and Australia, including three sold out nights at the SSE Arena, Wembley.
By the end of the Rock Out with Your Socks Out 2015 world tour, the boys had played to over one million fans across three continents.
The Sounds Live Feels Live tour is planned for 2016, kicking off in Asia in February before taking in the UK, Ireland, Europe and the US.
