Louise King from Coca-Cola – victor of the Best Licensed Food or Beverage Brand – told Source: “The Coca-Cola licensing team are delighted to win the Best Food or Beverage Licensed Property award in the UK. It has truly been a team effort and in a year where we’ve all experienced so many challenges this is a real highlight for us. We enjoyed the virtual awards ceremony last night – well done for a fun event.”
Ben Lowe from Roy Lowe & Sons – which scooped the accolade for Best Brand Licensed Gifting Product or Range for its Vintage Kellogg’s Socks – commented: “What a great bit of good news for us all at the Sock Mine to keep spirits high during the tough year we have all had!
“We are proud and honoured to receive the award – we always strive to bring some fun and novelty to a sock drawer, and the Kellogg’s cereal box socks were a great example of making the most of the gift-able aspect of socks. In my opinion, a perfect link up between a much loved heritage brand, our felt tip fairies’ creative ideas and a great retail execution by the team at Primark.”
It was a great night for the National Trust, picking up a brace of awards in the Product categories.
The Den Kit Company won Best Brand Licensed Children’s Product or Range for its National Trust Nature Hideaway Kit, with the company’s Hannah Martyr commenting: “Our success at yesterday’s B&LLA Awards is truly a dream come true for us, and is a message of encouragement to all of the UK’s small businesses – to love what you do, to work with the best people and to aim high.
“Winning the B&LLA Award for Best Brand Licensed Children’s Product celebrates both a product and a partnership that we are extremely proud of, and we couldn’t be happier.”
Meanwhile, the National Trust Collection x Barbour for John Lewis & Partners from Barbour won Best Brand Licensed Adult Apparel Product or Range.
Clare Brown, head of brand licensing at the National Trust, told Source: “Thank you to the incredible brand licensing team at the National Trust for all their passion and dedication, developing and delivering collaborations like Barbour, which are so important to us as a charity.
“They are a way of bringing our message to new audiences and engaging people in the work we do to care for nature, beauty and history.”
Clare continued: “On a different scale, I am delighted for the Den Kit Company team and for all that they have achieved; for years they have been dedicated to getting more kids to experience the benefit of the outdoors. It was a natural fit to work with them to create The National Trust Hideaway Kit and encourage children at an early age to enjoy being close to nature, so that they want to care for it as much as we do.”
The Natural History Museum was also a double award winner – picking up Best Licensed Heritage or Institution Brand and also Best Brand Licensed Home Decor Product or Range for the NHM Colour by Nature Paint Range from Farrow & Ball.
Head of licensing at the Museum, Maxine Lister, offered: “We are ecstatic to have won not one but two awards at last night’s ceremony! It’s difficult to put into words but we were truly humbled especially given the incredibly stiff competition. The quality of the campaigns this year across all categories was phenomenally high and we were happy to be a part of the mix.”
Scion was awarded Best Licensed Design-Led Lifestyle Brand, with Fleur Neal, head of partnerships at Style Library, telling Source: “We are absolutely thrilled. We have some amazing partners that help transform our designs onto so many different categories from apparel to rugs to home fragrance. To receive this recognition from B&LLA means the world to the entire team at Scion.”
It was also a successful night for Finsbury Food Group which set mouths watering with its win for Best Brand Licensed Food or Beverage Product or Range for its Guinness Chocolate Cake.
“Diageo has some of the most iconic brands on the market that lend themselves perfectly to food, especially cake, and give us the opportunity to present shoppers in our category with something completely new and exciting,” said Jack Cook-Broussine, brand manager, cake business at Finsbury Food Group. “It is fantastic to have recognition for the great work everyone at Finsbury Food Group has put into developing, launching and producing this quality Guinness Cake and is another testament to our ongoing fruitful relationship with Diageo and Beanstalk.”
