Claire Potter, founder and ceo at Metrostar, explains why the company supports the Brand & Lifestyle Licensing Awards.
Why do you sponsor the B&LLAs?
“We represent a number of heritage and lifestyle properties such as the Zoological Society of London, London Zoo and New York Botanical Gardens. We also work with food properties like Lucozade, Krispy Kreme and Ribena. It’s wonderful to support awards which address the particular nature of this sector.”
Why did Metrostar choose Best Department Store or Mixed Retailer Brand Licensed Retailer as the category it would like to sponsor?
“To us, mixed retail is the future. So many retailers are expanding their offer to encompass new categories. Mixed retailers are also great champions of brands and use them to create points of difference. Their multi-category approach offers the opportunity to brands to build ranges – creating a destination or ‘home’ that brands can support with marketing and social media.”
What’s your favourite thing about the awards?
“That it’s so easy to network. The lunchtime timing leaves lots of time before and after to catch up with contacts and meet new people. You really can build an important new relationship at the BELLAs in one year and return as an award nominee the next year.”
Why do you think companies and retailers working in the licensing space should attend the awards?
“For us, these awards showcase some of the most exciting licensed products and collaborations in the industry. The creativity and quality on show is something we aim for at Metrostar and is definitely worth celebrating.”
