This year’s stream to focus on key European trends across the three-day show.
Key trends affecting the future of licensing in Europe – including Brexit – plus gaming and toy presentations will form a major part of this year’s Licensing Academy programme at Brand Licensing Europe.
European-focused sessions will include a Licensing in Europe presentation from LIMA UK md Kelvyn Gardner; NPD’s overview of the European licensed toy market in 2017 from NPD Group’s Frederique Tutt; Opportunities in the European grocery retail market from Milos Ryba, head of discount at IGD; and Assembling a pan-European licensing programme by Teri Niadna, md of Brandgenuity Europe.
Gaming will also take centre stage with a special day one keynote panel aiming to dispel the myths around gaming and licensing.
Chaired by Steven Ekstract from License Global, the panel will include Mark Howsen, commercial development director, Sony Interactive Entertainment Europe; Yann Le Bouedec, commercial director, Paladone Products; Seth Barton, editor, MCV; Stuart Dinsey, board member, UKIE & chairman, Curve Digital; and Ashley Maidy, vp head of global licensing & partnerships, Activision.
Dorian Bloch, business group director at retail analyst GfK Entertainment, will also present an insight into how licensing and gaming can work together in the UK video games industry.
Complementing the NPD session, Billy Langsworthy, co-founder of Mojo Nation, will lead a panel called Playing with brands: A look at the design process behind toys and games.
Other key sessions will include Brand Licensing: The Seven Deadly Sins by John Burns at Gateley; What role does subscription VOD play in our TV viewing habits by Samantha Tuck from GfK; and this License This finale.
