BLE outlines 2016 seminar programme

Sessions will take place in the Licensing Academy and the Brands & Lifestyle Theatre.

With the countdown to next month’s show well and truly on, Brand Licensing Europe has confirmed a raft of seminars across both its Licensing Academy and Brands & Lifestyle Theatre.

For the first time this year, the programme will include a series of roundtables facilitated by LIMA, giving attendees the chance to benefit from focused discussions on a wide range of important topics.

Running from 2.30pm-4.15pm on Wednesday October 12, each table of up to 10-12 participants will meet for 30 minutes and then switch. There will be enough time for attendees to participate in three discussions of their choice.

The roundtables will include:

  • Ins and Outs of Celebrity Licensing – Saphia Maxamed, head of entertainment, Rights Management International
  • Is your property ready for licensing? – Ian Downes, md, Start Licensing
  • Creating and working with style guides – Dave Collins, co-founder, PowerStation Studios
  • Revitalising classic brands – Tim Collins, director, The Brand Director
  • How to negotiate a licensing deal – Trevor Jones, licensing director, Danilo

In addition to the roundtables, there will also be seminars from Max Templeman, senior account manager at GfK, on understanding your markets, while his colleague Sam Tuch will host a session exploring the consumption of content across Netflix, Amazon and Now TV during Q2 2016.

Frédérique Tutt from The NPD Group will present insights into the latest trends in kids licensing, while there will be an introduction to law in licensing from John Burns of Gateley.

Each morning, the Licensing Academy will kick off with the Essentials of Licensing by LIMA UK md Kelvyn Gardner, while the traditional License This competition will round off the programme on Thursday afternoon.

Over in the Brands & Lifestyle Theatre, Brand Jam will look at what’s hot in the lifestyle licensing business, while a panel led by Bruno Schwobthaler will look at whether food and beverages can be a new growth driver.

Fragrance specialist, Odette Toilette, will look at how Imperial War Museums archives can be reinvented for contemporary lifestyle product, while Richard Pink, md of Pink Key Consulting, will lead a panel session covering the essentials things which need to be done to ensure longevity for a brand licensing programme.

Simon Gresswell from IMG will be presenting his ten rules of successful sports licensing, while Brand Jam and Crescendo Brands will offer a closer look at licensed collaborations and co-branded activities.
