Visitors will have the chance to step into landscapes from author’s tales in annual festival.
The 150th anniversary celebrations for Beatrix Potter will be continuing through the festive period, with Longleat making the author’s works the theme of this year’s Festival of Light.
The festival – which runs from November 11 to January 2, 2017 – sees the Longleat estate transformed into a glowing wonderland of giant, illuminated lantern displays.
Visitors will be invited to step into landscapes from Beatrix’s tales, with scenes recreated from some of her best loved stories.
Characters including Squirrel Nutkin, Jemima Puddle-Duck, Jeremy Fisher – on his lily pad on the lake – and Mrs Tiggy-Winkle will all be featured, while visitors can explore Mr McGregor’s illuminated garden with Peter Rabbit in the Longleat grounds.
All of the elements from Beatrix Potter’s tales have been crafted on a giant scale from silk and wire framework.
Longleat general manager, Alex Lloyd, said: “It’s been an enormous pleasure to create the Festival of Light around such marvelous characters.
“The obvious synergy between these two iconic British heritage brands was a gift and we look forward to a winter of magical celebration.”
