Division will showcase the new look Beano brand, CGI series and direction for Jackie.
Beano Studios – the new standalone division of DC Thomson – is to exhibit at Brand Licensing Europe next month.
Taking its first solo stand, Beano Studios will showcase the new look Beano brand, a fresh CGI animated TV series – Dennis & Gnasher Unleashed – and a new design and category direction around the iconic 1970’s girls magazine, Jackie.
The launch of the new business provides extensive licensing opportunities across multiple categories including toy, stationery, apparel and publishing over the coming months.
Beano.com, the newly launched boredom busting entertainment network for seven to ten year olds, will house the initial offering; a curated range of consumer products featuring the new Beano designs, hitting digital shelves in September.
Beano Studios will then look to expand the cross category offering with a host of new licensees for BLE.
The licensing charge is being led by Allison Watkins, who joined the company as evp global consumer products in 2015. Allison’s role sees her tasked with heading up Beano Studios consumer products activations globally and securing licensees across categories for the refreshed brand.
Allison commented: “2016 has been a fantastic year for us with the launch of Beano Studios, and all of the exciting opportunities this allows us to bring to market.
“The revitalisation of Beano, a brand new Dennis & Gnasher series which will target a global audience and the humour and nostalgia inspired from Jackie magazine, will see us looking to work with partners from all categories.
“We’re excited to work with new and existing partners to create amazing products that will appeal to audiences of all ages.”
Beano Studios will be on stand B90 from October 11-13.
