Beano readies for special BAFTA event

Reinventing the iconic British brand session will take place on Monday November 19.

A panel discussion and Q&A to celebrate Beano’s 80th anniversary is due to take place at BAFTA later on this month.

Beano: Reinventing the iconic British brand will take place on Monday November 19 and will examine Beano’s re-invention for multi-platform success.

Hosted by Ed Petrie, the panel of producers and creatives will discuss how in its 80th year, Beano is appealing to fresh audiences on new platforms.

From the launch of Beano Studios and International Emmy nominated Dennis & Gnasher Unleashed, to the recent appointment of Tim Searle as head of animation, it will provide insight into developing IPs, commissions for new audiences, supporting short-form content and working with a new generation of talented creatives.

The panel will include Beano ceo Emma Scott; Iain Sawbridge, chief digital officer; Tim Searle; Michael Elson, executive producer; and Emma Shaw, So Beano writer and presenter.
