BBC Earth brand grows with new board game release

BBC Studios secures partnership with Identity Games for new BBC Earth: Animals offering.

BBC Studios has secured a new partnership with Identity Games to launch the official BBC Earth: Animals board game.

The interactive game features stunning iconic footage from the BBC’s award-winning natural history programming and helps teach fun and interesting facts about the planet, plus the animals and wildlife that inhabit it.

Aimed at players aged 8+, the game includes multiple choice and trivia questions using photo cards or a website.

It is due to hit retail in the UK, Netherlands and Belgium from this autumn.

“We are delighted to be able to work together with BBC Studios on our latest game project,” said Jeroen Nugteren, md at Identity Games. “BBC Earth: Animals is an innovative board game, that is both fun to play and educational for all ages. The quality of the footage is outstanding, resulting in an immersive game play.”

Jason Easy, head of licensing UK at BBC Studios, continued: “We are thrilled to welcome Identity Games to our BBC Earth portfolio to launch this educational, interactive board game.

“Blending amazing footage from the BBC’s blue-chip natural history programming with engrossing facts and stats about the world around us, has resulted in a truly competitive and engaging game for the whole family to enjoy.”

Identity Games joins a raft of licensees for BBC Earth which includes S’well bottles for lifestyle; Teemill for apparel; Museums & Galleries for stationery; Danilo for calendars; Jutexpo for reusable bags; and Posh Paws for the BBC Earth-inspired toy plush range.
