BBC Earth branches out with People Tree

Sustainable oceans t-shirt collection launches today (March 4).

BBC Earth has teamed up with People Tree to create a range of organic cotton t-shirts.

Launching today (March 4), the ‘Our Blue Planet’ collection aims to highlight the importance of ocean conservation and will feature some of our oceans most loved and endangered species, such as the North Atlantic right whales and sea turtles.

The sustainable fashion partnership follows BBC Earth’s London Fashion Week collaboration with Mother of Pearl and the British Fashion Council, which sought to raise public awareness of the importance of sustainable fashion.

The ‘Our Blue Planet’ collection will feature two women’s t-shirts, two unisex t-shirts and two tote bags. The pieces are made from 100% GOTS certified Organic Cotton, a highly sustainable fabric grown without the use of harmful chemical pesticides, fertilizers and genetically-modified seeds. The dyes and printing inks used for the pieces are also GOTS certified which means they are safe for both humans and the environment.

Rikesh Desai, licensing director for BBC Studios, said: “Following our success at London Fashion Week, we are very excited to have People Tree on board alongside BBC Earth as we further collaborations this year with brands and companies who offer consumers a choice to purchase sustainably.”
