Billie Jean King, Ella Fitzgerald and Florence Nightingale join five other women in the range.
Mattel has welcomed Billie Jean King, Ella Fitzgerald and Florence Nightingale into its Inspiring Women series of dolls.
The series – which launched in 2018 and is dedicated to honouring women and historical role models – already includes Amelia Earhart, Katherine Johnson, Frida Kahlo, Rosa Parks and Sally Ride, with dolls created in their likenesses.
Each doll features authentic clothing and unique accessories, plus educational information about the honouree’s contributions to society, so girls can be inspired by their stories through play.
“Through our Barbie Inspiring Women Line, we are committed to shinning a light on historical women who have broken boundaries by introducing their stories to a new generation of girls through play to remind them they can be anything,” commented Lisa McKnight, svp Barbie and global head of dolls.
“By highlighting these women and their stories in the format of a doll, we celebrate the impact they’ve made on history and encourage girls to chase their own dreams.”
