SEGA has teamed with internationally famed artist, Romero Britto to debut artworks and consumer products from the Britto x Sonic collaboration through a pop-up at his flagship gallery in Miami, Florida.
The Britto x Sonic collaboration first debuted at the ‘Be happy! ROMERO BRITTO Exhibition in Japan’ held in Tokyo, earlier this year.
Through his signature striking pop art style, Britto’s interpretation of the energetic blue hedgehog received a positive reception from the community. On 7 December, in Miami, fans will have the opportunity to experience Britto’s vibrant and bold artwork, including a collection of fine art from the Sonic collection, as well as a line of fun consumer goods such as figurines, t-shirts, hats, keychains, pins and more.
The artist’s gallery – just a short distance from Miami Beach Convention Center – will have a dedicated Sonic the Hedgehog experience, displaying a handful of newly created art pieces.
“Our continued collaboration with Romero Britto is a celebration of creativity and showcases the longevity of the Sonic brand,” commented Ivo Gerscovich, svp and chief business and brand officer of Sonic, head of SEGA Brands. “Through his unique and colorful pop-art style, Romero Britto allows for fans of all ages to experience Sonic in a new and special way.”
Fans will be able to purchase fine art, collectables, accessories and apparel in 2025.
Lucas Vidal, global ceo at the BRITTO Group and Romero’s business partner, continued: “Britto is an innovator and the most licensed and collected artist in history. During this year he has created over 20 original artworks in celebration of the collaboration with Sonic and those will serve as inspiration for a variety of consumer goods to be enjoyed by millions of people globally.”
Romero Britto added: “Video games bring people together in a fun way and Sonic has always been one of my favourite characters due to his unique personality and electric blue colour. I am very excited with this collaboration and with the launch of the third Sonic Movie later this month in the theatres.”
