First licensee, The Lagoon Group, already on board as company looks to grow creative IP.
Art + Science International has added creative IP Plasticine to its roster, having secured a deal with GP Flair.
One of the world’s oldest toy brands, Art + Science is looking to build a licensing programme to appeal to all fans and also reflect its heritage.
The first licensee – The Lagoon Group – is on board, with the company producing a range of products using the Plasticine brand, including table top games and co-branded lines.
The range will launch as part of its 2017 catalogue and be previewed at the trade fairs in January and February.
Andrew McKay, head of product development for GP Flair, said: “We are delighted to be working with Art and Science in creating a global licensing programme for Plasticine.
“People of all ages recognise Plasticine and we have long thought the brand lends itself to licensing. We are, therefore, over the moon that the programme is finally underway with The Lagoon Group being the first licensee.”
Nicola Webster, licensing director at Art + Science International, added: “Plasticine is such a fun brand to work on and we’re delighted to be working with Lagoon Games to create a fun and innovative product range.”
Heather Watherston, md at The Lagoon Group, continued: “It’s a fantastic partnership because everyone knows and loves plasticine and what Lagoon can do is turn it into a great gift by incorporating the plasticine into a kit or a game.
“The range, due out in the New Year, includes some very cute animal modelling kits, an Animation Kit and a Beano-themed game.”
