Argos shows its support for My Little Pony

Retailer reveals new toy and accessories range for brand ahead of hotly tipped movie.

With the countdown on until the arrival of the eagerly anticipated My Little Pony: The Movie in October, Argos is showing its support for the brand with the launch of a new line of toys and accessories.

Chief toy buyer at the retailer, Linzi Walker, said it was great to see the nostalgia trend continuing and she was confident the range would be a hit with children.

Some 33 new products are available, ranging from character figurines and play-sets through to movie scene collections.

Toy highlights from the new range include the Pinkie Pie Swimming Seapony; Best friends, Spike the Dragon and Princess Twilight Sparkle in a duo set; plus the Canterlot and Seaquestria Castle.

The toy lines are further supported by Argos with a wealth of other merchandise including lunch boxes, backpacks and pencil cases.

Linzi commented: “We love this new range of My Little Pony toys for children, and have no doubt they will too. In a year of blockbuster animated film releases, it’s great to offer children the chance to enjoy PonyVille beyond the movie screen.

“Plus, it’s an incredible 35 years since My Little Pony toys were first launched – and with the trend for nostalgia continuing, I’m sure many grown-ups will enjoy them just as much.”

The launch follows on from Hasbro’s own marketing efforts to build further awareness for the movie. Its My Little Pony Friendship Tour is currently visiting cities across the UK, culminating at The Big Feastival in Kingham from August 25-27.

Guests are welcomed aboard the signature pink double-decker bus, where they can explore the My Little Pony world of Equestria. Children and families are encouraged to celebrate the ‘positive power’ of the brand.
