Argos names BB-8, Paw Patrol in Christmas 2016 list

Retailer is first to reveal its top toy predictions for this year’s festive season.

It may still be only June, but Argos has today revealed its predictions for the top selling toys for Christmas 2016.

A brace of licensed offerings have made the list – which is a veritable showcase of how toys have embraced sophisticated tech, realistic lifelike functions and up to date pop culture references.

The Paw Patrol franchise continues to create strong interest at retail, with Spin Master’s Paw Patrol Air Patroller (£39.99, pictured) named in the listing.

In addition, Hasbro’s remote control BB-8 (£59.99) also makes the list of toys set to appear under the Christmas tree.

Linzi Walker, chief toy buyer at Argos, said: “This year’s list shows just how much toys are evolving – lots of our Top Toys have their roots in parents’ Christmas Past.

“Now they’ve truly moved on, with more sophisticated tech, realistic life-like functions and up-to-date pop culture references.

“With cross-generation appeal toys from LEGO, Nerf and Star Wars, households are expected to be lively and fun across the UK this Christmas.”

The full list from Argos is as follows:

  • Nerf Modulus Tri-Strike
  • Tiny Treasures Baby Doll
