Bumper year includes two targeted anniversary licensing programmes and new movie.
The Angry Birds brand is marking a ‘decade of destruction’ this year – an anniversary which will be marked by two targeted licensing programmes as well as the launch of the eagerly awaited second movie.
In addition to the anniversary celebrations, Rovio has told Source that the brand also has its strongest content roadmap ever going forward.
In a special supplement – produced by Licensing Source Book Europe in association with Rovio and UK agent Bulldog Licensing – Simo Hämäläinen, svp brand licensing at Rovio, said: “We continue to invest and publish unique, high quality content on our Angry Birds YouTube channel (which has over 2.8m subscribers). A recently released example of this was Angry Birds On the Run, our first live-action serialised short-form content, and written/directed by the awesome Baker Terry.
“In 2020, our content strategy evolves further with the release of our first long-form animated series, supported by its own licensing program and published across different platforms globally.”
Vicky Hill, licensing director at Bulldog Licensing, told Source: “2019 is a massive year for Angry Birds and with the release of The Angry Birds Movie 2 coming up fast the excitement is really building.
“It has been fantastic working with Licensing Source Book to bring you this update filled with movie and product news, and we can’t wait to see the innovative ranges from our licensees hit shelves this summer.”
