First annual celebration of preschool character to be held on Saturday May 28.
Andersen Press is launching a special ‘Elmer Day’ in May to celebrate the preschool picture book character.
The inaugural Elmer Day will take place at Hay Festival on Saturday May 28, with hundreds of Elmer events taking place up and down the country.
This will be the first annual celebration of Elmer the Patchwork Elephant, with bookshops and libraries being encouraged to hold events for local children and families.
A special pack has been created on how to hold an Elmer Day event, including stickers, posters and activity sheets.

Created by David McKee, Andersen Press has published 23 original Elmer picture books since the first story in 1989, as part of a character brand publishing programme that now includes a range of novelty and board books.
The books have sold over eight million copies worldwide and 4.5 million in the UK alone.
