Chinese e-commerce company teams with 20 global CP brands for new alliance.
Chinese e-commerce platform, Alibaba is to increase its focus on fake goods, teaming up with 20 global consumer brands for a new alliance.
Brands including Louis Vuitton, Samsung, Mars and Swarovski among others are on board with the Alibaba Big Data Anti Counterfeiting Alliance, according to Tech Crunch.
The aim of the alliance is to increase the sharing of information on fake goods between Alibaba and some of its largest brands.
Alibaba’s existing system apparently scans more than ten million listings on its sites each day. It has helped remove 380 million fake listings and shut down more than 180,000 sellers.
Alliance members will pool resources and increase collaboration, said Alibaba.
In a statement, the company said: “Alibaba will provide alliance members with big data and advanced technological support in their IP enforcement work, including helping to block, screen and take down infringing listings.”
