New film starring music box dancer and spaceman created to promote ITV hit show.
Aardman has partnered with ITV Creative for its new Dancing on Ice campaign.
The new film – which uses CGI and live action – tells the heartwarming story of a music box dancer and a spaceman action figure who meet in a ‘flurry of glitter and light’ before skating around a brother and sister’s bedroom.
“We wanted our dancers to feel real, as though they had just come to life,” explained Aardman’s Will Studd, who directed the film. “Using CGI allowed us to create a really dynamic picture where we can be very close to these tiny characters and in the same context be innovative with light, as it plays an important role in the film.
“The puppets have bold actions and chunky movements but smooth carving sequences on the ‘ice’ to make the characters feel more tangible.”
The ad uses the same track as previous Dancing on Ice campaigns, The Impossible Dream, which has been orchestrated in a music box style.
